Interest Home School

So I applied for like 20 positions to be a teachers aide in schools near my soon to be new place. This was about two weeks ago, and I hadn't heard anything so I just thought it was over. But tonight when I checked my e-mail I had an e-mail from Judy at the Home School to set up an interview. It is between me and five other people, well if they are still interested in doing it. I can't wait to find out more!
I should go calm down though now.

Mexico Here I come!

Well Last night the man and I decided what days we were going to be in Peurto Vallarta. He originally told me he wanted to go for two night, but he then decided on three. After having fun search for hotels, and reading about bugs, more bugs, and musty rooms we finally decided on Playa Los Arcos. Mostly because of the location to the beach and downtown. I am so excited we will be there the 13-16 of our trip. So it will be almost the end, and on our anniversary! Yay us!

I'm just a little excited if you can't tell.

I told Meggo where we were going and that is where she has stayed all three times she has been there. So she is going to give me the inside scoop!

Thats about all the excitement for now.

Out of the Loop

So I got off work an hour early on monday because I went in an hour early, since Oscar had to work at 7am. I was excited that I was getting off early and at the same time as him. But then I remembered I had to teach ESL at the center at 630. So instead of going home, I went to Depaul and printed out some worksheets for the class, ate the lunch I packed and then went to the center. I was about 40 minutes early which is a bad thing because the doors usually get opened ten minutes after you are supposed to be there. Well imagine my happiness since I could get outside of the cold and go inside cause someone came early. They looked at me and told me that there was no class today. I was like excuse me???? So I called the person in charge and she was like why wouldn't there be class? and then Oh you are right there isn't class today. So in otherwords I wasted two hours waiting for the class to start only to find out that I wasn't teaching and then had to get on the train and go all the way to Oscar's which mean I got home around 8 pm, which is three and a half hours later than I would have. I am so upset by this, and want to scream! This is unprofessional and my time is very valuable to me, considering I work full time and am taking classes.

Papers and Diapers

So on sunday, I told Oscar that I would take him to breakfast. So we went to I-Hop. It was yummy, thats for sure. And I didn't even get pancakes, waffles, or french toast, all though I did eat some of Oscar's pancakes. Then we went to the grocery store to buy food for my lunches since I was staying there for most of the week. While we were there I took the opportunity to buy things to make the diaper cake for his sister's baby shower. Then we went to target and bought more stuff for the cake, as well as going to Michaels. It was a very busy morning.
Then Oscar dropped me off at his house and went to work. And I went to work at his place. I swept and vaccumed the dust from his sanding, I did five loads of laundry, I wrote my paper, and practiced my spanish. Plus I took a three hour nap!
When Oscar came home I was so excited I finished all my work, that I wanted to make the cake right then. So we made the cake while we watched cars and then went to sleep. Photos of the cake to be added later once I get the pictures onto my laptop.

Hi Va!

Computers and Painting

On saturday I went to co-teach on how to use computers for those who have never done it. It was a pretty good class, even tho at the beginning there were only 5 of us and 4 of us were teachers. But everyone came in late, so we got to learn some typing skills at least!

After class Oscar picked me up and we went to his mom's house. We played with the kids for a little bit. And then I went upstairs with his pregnant sister. We watched her boyfriend put together the crib and then put the blankets in and looked at all her baby stuff. Then we had a nice talk about her wonderful brother and me. Then we decided we were going to paint the rest of the attic, so we all went to home depot and spent forever looking at paint and picking them out.

Oscar and I picked out the paint for our focus wall while we were there, and that is super duper exciting. Now if he would just finish building the dang wall! Then I can paint. He decided to work on the wall, since I want to paint so bad.

We did a primer for the whole attic and then we painted the top portions, and that was basically my first time painting and I have callouses and my arm hurts from rolling the roller up and down the walls. (the walls are not straight up and down they are at diagonals)

All in all it was a very fun day with lots of work.

Hangman

So for my liberation theology class, we have to do community service. I am working for the Mexican Solidarity Network. Today after work I hopped on the brownline and took it to the end of the line! which means I basically rode the whole thing. Which is sorta fun, but not at five when it is crowded, but luckily I got a seat. Which is fun, cause standing for almost an hour on a moving train does not help my painful knee.
Anyway, I got to the center and it was not open! This happens a lot to us, which makes me sad. The person who unlocks the door is out of the city for a conference or something. This means I cannot get into the office to make copies, or to get any teaching supplies. The other teacher knew that this was going to happen today, but I was in the dark. Luckily I actually had brought something to do for class instead of using the books they have there. However, since my printer is mad at me, I only printed one of each thing, and was planning on making copies. I had planned a crossword, and word search. so I drew them on the board, and then had to erase for the next one, but we still managed to have fun. They also learned hangman. It was really fun, and they actually stumped me once. This helped them think of english words that they know and then how to spell them. I think they really enjoyed it, and I feel that the used english more in this class, and understood. What a difference being prepared makes. I feel bad for them because I am not trained to teach english as a second language so I have been sorta lost. But each week gets better.
But please wish me luck on saturday because I have no idea if anyone will be there to unlock the center, and the computer room so we can teach computer class!

SIx Flags More Fun

So on sunday I went to six flags, with my boyfriends brother, mother and his two nieces. It was a lot of fun, even though I didn't ride the ragin bull, cause I didn't want to miss the fun of going on all the kiddie rides!
I thought it was really nice that the big scary monsters did not go after the children, when they saw them they actually walked around them, or some even said hello nicely.
It was great to see all of the make-up they used to make their characters. We saw two shows and two parades!!!! It was a super fun day, and I bought a superman onesie for his sister's new baby!!!
My boyfriend's three year old niece is fearless, she would cry or get sad everytime she was not allowed on any ride, and rode most of the rides with her hands up!

Pumpkin Patch

So we went to the pumkin patch and this is our finished product. I didn't do any of the carving tho, I just gutted them and then baked the seeds! They are carved by Oscar.
